An account representing a partner involved in a transaction, such as a reseller or referral partner. It identifies the commercial relationship with the partner, which may be separate from the end customer’s account and the party paying the invoice.
An example
Cedar Reseller purchases licences from the vendor for Northstar to use. Cedar has a partner account for the resale relationship, while Northstar remains the end-customer account linked to the opportunity.
What to check
Identify the partner’s actual role. A partner account is not automatically the contracting entity, payer or end customer.
In practice
Confirm whether the partner is referring, reselling or operating through a marketplace. The role affects which agreement, pricing programme and order path need to be checked.
