A reduction calculated against an identified price or amount. The reference price matters: a percentage off list price is not the same as a percentage reduction from last year’s negotiated price.
An example
Starting from S$100,000, a 20% reduction gives S$80,000. Applying a further 10% reduction to S$80,000 gives S$72,000, a combined 28% reduction from the original amount, assuming sequential discounting is allowed.
What to check
State the baseline and whether reductions are sequential or additive. Include other concessions when assessing the overall deal.
In practice
Show the baseline, eligible items and order of calculation. Include credits and free periods when assessing the wider concession, even where they do not appear in the quote’s discount field.
